I do not know where the dipstick is for the transmission. Also, from a stop position when I try to accelerate the car will rev but no power.

Which model, and engine please. It is very possible it does not have a dipstick. Many newer vehicles do not have them. On them there are usually drain and fill ports on the transmission itself that you can access from underneath with the car on a lift.
