Transmission does not shift out of second gear?

Hi Barbara,
When you say it won't shift from second, that is usually an indication that the vehicle is in what is called "limp mode". This happens when there is an issue that may lead to more damage if the vehicle is used.
On the other hand, when you say it won't shift from 2nd, do you mean the shifter itself is stuck in second gear? Let me know.
If my first comment is what is happening (limp mode), we need to scan the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.
