The symbol come on for transmission so I had the oil and filter change ok for a day put come back on gears sticking and a smell of burning when symbol is not there driving fine

The oil and filter in the transmission or the engine? The symbol could be a response to a fault, attach an appropriate scan tool to read faults and repost with result please
