Transmission doesn't change out of first until it hits 3000 to 3500 RPM and then it seems alright.

have a trans guy use his scanner to test if solenoid problem or something else internal. may be a bad clutch or valve body problem

that code means a solenoid problem either wiring issue, bad solenoid or what I had said previously

Hope you're right! My friend's was doing the exact same thing, with the same code, and second gear was toast. Don't bother putting much money into these trannys, as they are considered to be junk by respectable mechanics. I'd drive it until you burn it up entirely. You won't cause any harm to the gear train, and who knows? You may get a year or two out of it.
