Start the car everything sounds fine until shifting into gear (any gear).

Then it sounds like a bunch of broken metal grinding. I have been told that the linkage is a chain? And if that broke, would be reason for all the noise. Is this true?

I have tried google on linkage but just keeps coming back with wiper linkage.

Hello,

It sounds like one of your CV axles is broken. Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise? that would be great. You can upload it here with your response.
