stuck in second gear.

Wait. Is the shifter physically in second gear or is it that it just will not shift past second gear? If it just will not shift, then the computer has the vehicle in "limp" mode, which is what it sometimes does when it detects a problem (bad sensor, shorted wire, etc). Take it to a transmission shop and have it checked.
