Can you swap the stock np261 transfer case (manual shift) with a np261hd transfer case? If so, will it bolt right in without any mods?

Yep, they should bolt up with no issues, but to be sure you can call an auto wrecker because they have special software that has a compatibly interface chart. Here are the instructions on how to remove and replace the transfer case in the images below. Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
