Just that. Rear yolk coming out of transfer case spins in gear until I put a driveshaft on it, shut off and in neutral can only turn the driveshaft by hand rotating it clockwise/forward.
Pre-problem: I changed the tranny filter then took it for a test drive, heard a loud bang then vehicle clanged real loud then on. So I changed the torque convert and now the rear yolk output from transfer will spin by hand but only clockwise? It doesn’t even try to turn counterclockwise at all. Truck starts and there are no noises at all. I’m at a loss please help thank you!

Hi,

Did the rotating issue start only after the replacement of the torque converter? If it did, are you certain you have the torque converter fully seated in the front pump? Were you able to easily turn the torque converter by hand after installing the transmission and before you bolted the converter to the flywheel?

Let me know. Also, if it is possible for you to record the noise it is making when driving, upload it for me to hear.

One other thing. When you removed the transmission, did you disconnect the transfer case first? If so, are you certain the transfer case adapter is properly aligned and seated? The transfer case adapter must be installed so that the adapter is evenly seated to the transmission before installing the retaining nuts. See pic 1 below.

Take care,

Joe
