The transceiver in my car is not responding to my key. My mechanic said that it cannot be bypassed and the part I need has been discontinued, so what do I do?

Should be able to find one that works in a salvage yard if it is the actual PATS II transceiver. They do not fail that often. Have you tested a second key just in the event the transponder in the key is bad?

That could mean the antenna loop wires that pick up the signal from the key are bad/broken. That is far more common than the transceiver.
