Hi, I want ask about the need for oil change for gear (transaxle transmission ) in my car, some say no need it is life long. I read in schedule maintenance manual you have to to check the fluid but not mention if to replace like what is said for crankcase oil, other opinion said it it is dangerous to change the oil because it may damage the gearbox or the transaxle.
What is your opinion?
Thanks

Hi,

I just read through my manual. According to Alldata, it should be changed every 60,000 miles. Take a look at pics 1 and 2 below.

I would inspect the level much more often, but I would change it as shown.

If you look at the remaining pics, they provide the directions for changing the fluid in the CVT transmission. I will tell you that it is very important that you use only the fluid recommended. Don't use traditional fluid. It must be designed for this vehicle.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
