Transmission swap?

I have a possible transmission leak and was wondering if a 6-cylinder Outback transmission be compatible with a 4-cylinder Forester?

Hi,

I'm not certain of the Outback model year, so I looked up both transmissions for the 2007 model year.

The two have similar but different part numbers. If I had to guess, I would say it deals with the electronics in the transmission, so I have to say it won't work.

Here are the part numbers:

31000AG430 07 Forester

31000AG560 07 Outback

What is leaking on your transmission? It may be a simple fix.

Would need more information to be sure but it isn't likely they interchange given that the engines are much different and the transmissions would be geared differently as well with one being in an SUV and the other in a normal passenger vehicle.
