I have the XR model. I am told I need to replace the transmission solenoids, but I want to make sure I am getting the right parts. How many are there? I know there are more than one. About how much should just the parts cost me?

Good morning my name is Roy and I will assist.

Below is the information you requested. I find highly doubtful that all the solenoids have failed at one time. What is your original issue?

Also, the price is about $60.00 to $120.00 per solenoid.

Roy

As Roy asked, what is the problem you are having? It would be very rare to have more than one or two solenoids failing at a time. Plus it may be that the solenoids are not the actual problem but that it is in the controller or even a mechanical failure internally. With 200,000 miles on that transmission I would be real suspicious that it is only a solenoid.

I apologize, it has just been rebuilt due to a broken 35R wave plate. The torque converter was replaced and the transmission reinstalled. Upon my attempt to drive it home the transmission failed about a mile from the house, mid drive. It just stopped changing gears and would not leave first gear.

First thing would be to check the wiring harness. It is possible there is a bent pin or simply not fully seated. But, I would also let the place that did the rebuild have a look first. This should be something covered under warranty (at least it is at the transmission shops around me).
