Thank you again. Okay, what happens if the wrong type of fluid was put in? Meaning ATF. Instead of Mercon transmission fluid Also the fluid is light brown. But does not smell burnt.

You will need to replace the fluid and filter.

Using the wrong fluid can cause several different issues. The wrong type can cause poor lubrication, transmission overheating, and even transmission failure.

What I would recommend is to have the system flushed rather than just replacing the filter and oil that comes out when the pan is removed. That way, it all gets replaced.

By only changing the filter, you will get about half of the fluid out. A special type of machine is used to power flush it.

Let me know if you are experiencing trouble since the mistake. Also, let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
