Trac light

Trac light comes on and the transmission is shifting hard. When I stop to reset it makes a loud noise in reverse and park. Will this harm my transmission? I have an appointment to take it to the shop in a few days. Is it okay to drive it?

It sounds like the damage is already done. The thing now is how long will it last until it fails completely. Hard to say. I would limit any driving to emergency type stuff until you get it to the shop and they can check it over. It might be something relatively minor but continued use could make it worse, or it may require a lot of work to repair it.
