How do you install a TPS sensor? I took it off to clean the throttle body and when I put the throttle body, IAC and the TPS back on, the rpm's at idle are at 1,000 and at times while shifting the rpm's will stay around 1,700.

Good evening.

The spec for the throttle position sensor is .5 to .75 volts at idle. Out of adjustment will not cause a high idle. That comes from either a vacuum leak at the throttle body to intake or a bad idle air control.

The IAC cannot be cleaned as the area that sticks cannot be accessed. remove the wires from the IAC and see if the idle drops to 500 or stalls.

Thanks for the information. How do you correctly reinstall the TPS? I unplugged the IACV and the idle dropped to 300 to 500 rpm's. Does that mean it is good? If I am correct, if it was bad, there would not be any difference in the idle.

Yes, it is bad. I would replace the IAC with a new one.

Can you post a picture of the TPS?

The TPS just bolts on the throttle body. There is no adjustment. If there was, there would be elongated bolt holes.

Just bolt it back on and connect it up. Replace the IAC assembly.

I bought a IAC valve from AutoZone. The rpm's are still around 800 to 900. The only thing different, is now the rpm's go up and down not by much. When I unplugged it, the rpms dropped to 300 to 500.

Is the new IAC bad too or is the problem related to something else?

No, 800 is about right.

Drive it and see if it settles down.
