The car was parked in a shopping center garage where a water pipe broke and the car got soaked in water. After a while there was a smell so we shampooed the carpets except under the seats which we could not reach and washed the mats. The car still has a smell. Any suggestions? Should the carpets be replaced?

Hi there,

I had a water leak from a bad wind screen the carpets were wet for some time (the under lay) before the leak was noticed, we had to get new carpet fitted as the mould was never going to go away, lucky mine was a new car warranty claim, but in short, unless you totally dry the carpet & under lay mould will form and you will never get rid of the smell.
