1996 Toyota Tercel Shaking at a stop

Yes I am aware that 520,000 (km not miles) is a lot but I have not had many problems with my tercel. Now when it's stopped it shakes as if it is about to stall out. It also takes longer to start and has trouble accellerating. I have not changed the spark plugs in a while so I am going to do that but what could the problem be?
