I have a ticking noise coming from the engine of my 05 4 cylinder Tacoma. I never really paid attention to it before, but I can hear the ticking noise when I am in the drive thru or against a block wall.
The tapping noise is louder when it just come back from a long drive. In park, the engine still taps and taps even louder when I rev up to 2k. After it sits idling awhile the tapping is very faint. I've used regular dino oil and Mobile one 5-20. The toyota serviceman listened to it quickly and said it used solid lifters, but I am not sure.
I've put a screwdriver on the injectors and part of the engine to listen to but cannot pinpoint it. I have included a video/sound link for your review.
