2000 Toyota Tacoma front coil spring removal

I am trying to replace my front coil springs but I have tried 2 diferent types of spring compresors but niether work or fit. Is there a special tool for these springs? Or is there another way to remove them that my book dosnt show?

Hi madracefan,

Our database does not indicate nor mention of any special spring compressor for the job.

These are the removla procedure for the spring and lower control arm.

Removal
Raise and support vehicle.
Remove front wheel.
Remove shock absorber.
Using spring compressor, compress coil spring sufficiently to relieve tension from lower control arm.
Disconnect stabilizer link at lower control arm.
See Fig. 1 .
Support upper control arm and steering knuckle.
Remove lower ball joint nut.
Separate lower ball joint from lower control arm.
Loosen lower control arm mounting nut/bolt.
Loosen strut bar set bolt.
Remove lower control arm mounting bolt and nut.
Remove strut bar set bolt.
Remove coil spring.
Remove lower control arm and strut bar as an assembly.
Remove strut bar from lower control arm.
Remove ball joint mounting nuts.
Remove ball joint.
