Ticking in the engine

I have a 1986, toyota supra 7mge, my question is there is a ticking in the motor i am asumeing that it is the lifters or valves its really bad right when you get a little above 3000 rpm. what is it exactly and what is it going to take to fix. thanks alot guys for your time.

When was the last oil/filter changed

At that age could need a valvetrain rebuild.
