I took my car out for a ride as I was heading home. I pulled into the driveway I got out and I hear this knocking noise coming from my engine I shut it off right away. The next day I changed the oil to check if theres any metal shaving in the oil I didn't find any, So I decided to change the oil. After that I started it up it had a really loud knocking sound so I shut it off really quick I was thinkin maybe I should give the oil time to go down and through. So bout 10 min later I started it back up and the knocking was totally gone I had thought I fixed it it idle normal until I gave it alittle gas and the knocking started to come back as the RPM got higher it starts around 2k also you can hear the knock comming out of my exhaust I don't know if they will help. If anyone can please help me I been stressed out and I can't figure out whats the problem I just want to get my car fixed. You can also reach me on my email at twenturbosupra@yahoo. Com Thank you for your time!

Hi there,

get the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge, but this is sounding serious, heavy engine knock is usually a bearing problem.

If you have low oil pressure you may be looking at a faulty oil pump. I would need the pressure readings to get an idea as to where to go next.

Ok mark, What I did was an oil change once again, and this time I added thicker oil 20w50. After I waited 10 min for all the oil to go down I started up my car once again the tickin only lasted like 2 sec then it went away, so I let my car run for like a good 10 min and I shut it off about a minute later I started it up again and this time I didn't hear a single ticking/knocking. I took it out for a drive up and down the street at about between first gear through 2 I hear it come back around 3k rpm then it totally goes away for good. It seems to only appear to start from 1st gear to 2nd before switchin into 3rd about 25k to 3k rpm, but other than that its sounds normal. What do you think?

Hi there, This could be a sludge problem, draining the oil may have cleared some of it out, a good quality engine flush can also help, and even better drop off the sump and give it a good clean out, but this is a bit involved.
