1990 Toyota Starlet 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

ive recently put a new head gasket on my toyota starlet new plugs n leads new battery plenty spark n fuel and im sure the timings on but it just wont go broom it just keeps winding over, ive had a couple of close fires but nothing spectacular any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Verify the fuel pressure if it's within specs - and also are the injectors pulsing?
