Hi, thanks for your time. I tried to find to find a previously submitted Q/A for this, but didn't.

My car makes a high, scattered squeaking noise as I drive-- but only when going over a bumpy surface (as if something's loose). It doesn't sound like an engine problem, as acceleration etc. Doesn't impact/increase the squeak. I can only hear it from the inside of the car if my music's off, can't hear it if I roll down the window. The squeak has become more prevalent over the months. I've wanted to take it in, but don't want to until I get some kind of idea what's going on so as to save a pricey diagnosis session! Plus I'm female and some mechanics like to try and rip me off, so I'd like to sound knowledgeable when I go in. :)

Ok lets get some info first so I can better assist you. Now can you tell where the noise is coming from? Meaning is it in the front or the rear and can you tell if it left (drivers) side or right (passanger) side? Have you looked make sure the exhaust system seems tight? Get back to me and we will go from there.

It seems to be coming from the front, since I hear it as I'm driving, but I honestly couldn't tell you whether it's from the driver's side or passenger side. It literally sounds like something is loose and squeaking in the undercarriage as it really only occurs (or occurs more readily) when I go over a bumpy surface (driveway entrance), turn a corner, or am not on a smooth road. There is no squeak when the car is idle and also not when accelerating (but that could be because the acceleration is louder than the squeak)

Exhaust system-- I'm not sure I know how to check to see if it's loose or tight, sorry.

Thanks!

OK do you have a can of WD40 or silicone lubricant? If so then I need you to spray the lower control arm bushing and see if goes away or not. Sorry to do this but the only way you can find it is proses of elimination. Can you bounce the car up and down by hand and get it to do the noise? If so then you may be able to find out what side is doing it. Let me know.
