Hi All,

I really wish you guys can help me out here!

I bought a 2010 Sienna from an auction, so it is no longer covered buy the factory warranty.

The vehicle starts, but will not idle unless I keep starting it until the engine warms up, then it will idle, but very rough and stalls randomly.

A computer OBDII scan shows a P0505 "Idle Control System Malfunction" and few other random misfire codes.

The Freeze data also have few related information to this problem;
- DTC that caused it P0171 "System Too Lean (Bank 1)"
- Throttle Position 18.4%
- Engine RPM 603
- Coolant Temp 194 F
- Short Term Fuel (Trim1) 19.5 %
- Long Term Fuel (Trim1) 22.6 %
- Short Term Fuel (Trim2) 20.3 %
- Long Term Fuel (Trim2) 22.6 %
- Short Term Fuel (Trim3) -100.6 %
- Long Term Fuel (Trim3) -100.6 %
- Short Term Fuel (Trim4) -100.6 %
- Long Term Fuel (Trim4) -100.6 %
- Fuel System 1 CLSD
- Fuel System 2 CLSD
- Absolute Throttle Position B 50.9 %
- Accelerator Pedal Position D 16.0 %
- Accelerator Pedal Position D 31.7 %
- Let me know if you need any other data.

Where is the Idle control system is it within the throttle Body?

Could the throttle body be the problem?

Could it be a bad wire?

Your help is very much appreciated!

The lean code may be the cause of it all. If any unmetered air (vacuum leak) gets into the engine it will cause a lean code and a mixture control problem. Try sprating carb cleaner around the intake area while someone keeps it running at a low speed (close to idle) if the engine reacts to the carb cleaner there is a vacuum leak. If there is a leak, the idle control system wont be able to control it and will set its own code.
