2006 Toyota Sienna Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I HAVE put 15 gallons of diesel in my toyota instead of gasoline yesterday. The car has been taken to a dealership and they ask me about 5000 dollars for the repair!! i was told by the towing company that i should expect something in teh 500 dollars to have it drained and for the plugs. what do you think?

yes for 5 minutes and then it stalled.
the mechanic said he has to change a lot of things.

Did they give you an itemized estimate? list of parts to be replaced? are they saying engine damage?

yes. i called them an here is the detail:
n°1 catalytic converter 738 DOLlars
N°2 catalytic converter 1055 dollars
6 fuel injectors 1080 dollars
Fuel pump+ sending unit/assembly 697 dollars
air filter 20$
2 headgaskets 2411$
+ labour

Total 5629dollars
which is anightmare!!
i don't know anything about cars. So they could tell me anything they want. i have askecthem if they couldn't just drain the tank but the guy says that it is not possible.

Well everything up to the headgaskets is a correct repair. once driven pump, injectors and CATS are trashed. $2411 for headgaskets is a little high. what is reason for removing heads?

i don't know. he just said there are 2 headgaskets to change: 2411 DOLLARS, baby!!
I don't even know what it is!
Guess i will have to pay. unfortunately.

You could have it towed to an independent shop. They may be able to drain probably need injectors flush out and get running. Fuel pump may work but CATS are iffy. Still cannot see reason for removing cylinder heads.

It happens more than you might think when oil co. started puttig diesel with gas pumps instead of seperate like it was. Contact insurance company they sometime help out under comprehensive.

yes i will keep you posted. i contacted my insurance and they are sending an expert to check what needs to be done and will tell how much I have to pay. Stressful but also reassuring to know that someone is going to look and give me a second opinion.
