I recently was scheduled for an oil change, and appr. 1.5 weeks before, I checked the oil and it was down by 1 quart. I raised my concern about amount of oil usage in a 10,000km span between oil changes (I went over the recommended span by 2000km), and the service manager told me this was totally normal consumption, and every car will use approx. this much. My concern is that I have only 6 months left on my warranty, and this may lead to big $ later on. Could you let me know if this oil usage is normal, and what I may confront my Toyota dealership with.

Thanks so much

Hi there,

I feel that this consumption is a little high, do you know what type of oil they are using, i would like to see a mineral based oil for a car of this age, as synth oil is more prone to burn with an older engine with the miles you have done, you may find that with a mineral oil your usage will drop considerably,
