2009 Toyota Prius ACCELERATION?

Since the beginning of these runaway Toyota stories no one has suggested to the driver to put the car in neutral and let the engine rev itself to death or to simply pull over and turn off the key or car. Some one tonight said on TV they were afraid the car would flip. Do this merit consideration?

Actually it was mentioned to put vehicle in Neutral and to turn the key to off position by Toyota long before they found any fixes at all for it. There is no possible way the car would "flip" just by putting it into neutral and engine revving high until key is turned off. Most harmful thing that will happen this way is to possibly blow the motor which, in my opinion, is much much better than loss of life.

I "heard" even the over-rev issue is moot, as most newer cars have a separate 'overspeed' cutout function that activates when rpm approaches redline.
