My car has been standing (not driven) for about 2 months. When I tried to drive it, the gearstick would not movefrom Neutral into any position except towards Reverse; only then it made the grating sound you get if you try to change gear without the clutch fully depressed. The last time it was driven it was fine. Any ideas?

HI there,

If the clutch feels fine and you can select reverse with the engine running OK, the problem will be in the transmission, have the oil level checked first and if that is OK the problem may well be an internal one.
