Lost coolant and Transmission noises

I have a 94 Toyota 4x4 pickup with a V6 and automatic trans with about 100k miles. Recently, it overheated on my lunch break. I added about a gallon of water to the radiator and made the 30 miles back home with no problems. I can see no evidence of fluid loss under the truck and the exhaust seems normal. I changed the oil which appeared normal and replaced the thermostat and put in new coolant. It seems to be going down slowly. I have noticed that the transmission (I think) is making noises like there is a lot of fluid in it that I had never noticed before. Is it possible that the coolant has made its way into the transmission??

What you need to look at is if the tranny cooler lines attach to the radiator, or a seperate cooler. If the lines attach to your radiator, check for a milky substance in both the radiator and tranny, that would indicate a crack in the coolr tank...radiator would need to be replaced, cooling system flushed, and a possible tranny rebuild...If you have an external tranny cooler, the two can't mix! Pressure test cooling system to find the leak...check tranny fluid for color and level!
