Noises problem
1993 Toyota Pickup 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

About a year ago I had a new clutch kit installed in my truck, and now while sitting still after running the truck for a while and with the truck in nutural and my foot off the clutch pedal I can hear a squealing sound I can barely depress the clutch pedal in and the squealing noise stops. Also sometimes while driving with the windows down I can hear the same squealing sound not loud but annoying. Never had this problem until I had the clutch kit installed.

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for the donation.

I need to clarify the following with you to understand the situation better.

1. Does the noise happenas only when in neutral or in all gears with clutch pedal released?

2. Is there any abnormal feel/vibrations when light pressure is applied on the clutch pedal to eliminate the noise?

3. Is the clutch pedal height same as before the clutch was replaced?

Sometimes I do hear the noise in all gears, and then when I get up to speed I don't hear it anymore and then sometime I don't hear it at all, it does't happen all the time which I don't understand.
Sometimes I do seem to feel a small vibration with my foot resting on the clutch pedal but not all the time. As for as the clutch pedal height it rest at the same height as before but now I have to push it all the way to the floor to change gears where as before it would engage and disengage without having to push it all the way down.

Hi,

A new clutch would always engage at a lower pedal height so it is correct.

As to the noise, that would require more testing to find out, If you had replaced the clutch at a shop, get back to them to have a look. Since the noise is intermittent, it could be something loose that requires tightening.
