1992 Toyota Pickup overheating when heater is on

Hi! When heat is selected the temp. Gage starts to rise and goes allmost to red line. I turn the heater to cool and it slowly goes down to normal temp. Thermostat has been clanged, coolant level full and no leaks. Thank You for any help

HI there,

I would be getting a thermo reading of the cooling system as I feel that this may be am electrical problem with the gauge and not a cooling system issue, get the temp readings and report back your findings.
