1990 Toyota Pickup Exhaust leak & starting problem

I have a 1990 Totota Pickup Truck, 4 cylinder, fuel injection, 240,000 miles, stick shift.

Suddenly louder/slightly less power, sounds like an exhaust leak. Patched holes on muffler and replaced a missing bolt, no change in volume. Noticed tailpipe looks a little wet sometimes also. Noise seems to come from the front. (Cracked manifold? Replace gasket? Something else?)

Other ongoing problem is I have to crank it five times or so to start after it sits overnight. If I've driven it within an hour, no problem, starts right up. Had the battery tested, but the battery is fine. Tried turning it on 3 times (without cranking) prior to start as mechanic recommended, but no dice. Any ideas?

I'm hoping there's some repairs I can do myself, even though I'm a novice, 'cause I'm low on cash and been throwing a lot of it into the truck in the last year. Can't complain with all the miles I've put on it, just wondering if it's something a novice can manage or should I just take it in. Thanks.

The noise could be a cracked exhaust manifold or a bad catalytic convertor.

No cold start could be a fuel pump. Change the fuel filter (a bear it's under the intake manifold) Also a basic problem are weak plugs are a cold start problem. Let me know
