1989 Toyota Pickup Transmission will not shift out of park

Vehicle has been idell for about 2-3 months because of dead battey. After I installed the new battery it started fine without a problem but then I could not shift out of park.

See if the brake lights work and use a test light to see if the CIG fuse is good.According to Mitchell there is a shift-lock system that may be giving you trouble and it uses that fuse
