do you have to take out trans to check or remove pilot bearing

Hi jjbonz,

Yes, the pilot bearing embedded in the crankshaft and the transmission clutch shaft sits on it.

If the pilot bearing is bad, you would get a grinding noise when clutch is depressed with gears engaged and vehicle running.

Gear shifting would tend to crash if the bearing is seized or partially seized.
