1980 Toyota Pickup alternator/battery

Have a black and white wire at back of alternator, besides the green clip. Do they both go to the + battery spot on the alternator? At the positive battery
terminal there are a white and a black wire which have
been altered but were hooked up to the positive terminal,
are they correct?
I believe the fuse or the alternator dash bulb for the dash alternator light are out. Truck is stranded, no pics
or money.

one will go to power on alt the other is field wire should have a separate spot for it
