handbrake adjustment

i am trying to replace the rear brake shoes on my toyota corrina gli 1.6 1994. i have been told that it is easyer to do this by slakening the handbrake cable up as much as possible, the only thing is i cant see how to do this. any help would be appreciated.

under where the handbrake handle is there should be the emergency brake cable, on the end there are two nuts on the end, you will have to use two wrenches to get them loose then you can back off on the emergeny brake, you might not have to back off too much,
