Air Conditioning System Repair (Freon Empty)

A month ago, the air conditioning system of our Toyota Hiace Van 1994 4wd failed. The failure is cause by a leak in the system, as a result their is no more freon left in the system. It is totaly empty with Freon.

My is question is; Is it okay to add a freon back to the system after a fix the leak, or are their other components to be replace since it has been a month since the AC system has run out of freon?

Hi there,

When the leak is located & repaired it would be advisable to replace the receiver/ dryer assembly, and also as the system is over 10 years old replace the compressor oil. Both these jobs are relatively inexpensive and they will both improve the reliability and overall performance of the system.
