I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra, 6 cilynder 4.0 engine. In the last 2 days my engine has lost it's performance. I starts OK and runs but it misses and lost power under load at high speed. I took it to and Advance Auto Parts Store in PR, and was scanned. They just told me that 2 codes show up. P0171 and P 0174. System too lean bank 1 and2. They would not go any further, So I went to a Toyota DEALER and his service person told me the same and requested over 590.00 to replace the MAF SENSOR. I Refuse and cleaned the MAF sensor with a CRC special cleaner but it did not do any good. I check for vacum leaks and everything else seem to be OK, PLEASE Help. THANKS.

That is usually a vacuum leak or MAF. Cleaning them doesnt always work, but that isnt a guarantee that new one is what you need. The best bet is to get it on a scanner to watch the MAF working to see if it is out of spec. New fuel filter? Do you have a K&N by chance? If so, I would replace the MAF, those air filters kill them

Thanks for your prompt reply, yes I have a K&N AIR Filter installed since march, all my cars have one of those installed, a Chevy a Ford and now the Toyota. But Toyota seems to be particular prone to fail more often. I do not put too much oil on them and K&N DENIES ANY wrong doing on their research about those failures. I just replace my MAF with my daugther 4 Runner and the problem was cure. Keep up the good work. One other thing I have been using a WATER 4 GAS SYSTEM for 3 months on that vehicle, that might have cause my problem.

Not likely. That isnt injected before the MAF, so it most likely wouldnt hurt it. K&N has always denied it, but personally I see more failures with vehicles equipped with heir filters than any other
