My friend put diesel in my 2004 Toyota Sequoia and drove it! I had to have it towed to Toyota and they charged me 800 to drain it and replace the spark plugs! They said it will be fine with 91 gas and octane boosters. It drives but it shakes and the check engine sign wont go away. Now they say im gonna need to replace the engine! Is there anything else I can do?

Hi there,

Did they replace the fuel filter? What are the fault codes being set? Depending on the quantity and ratio of diesel to petrol that the engine was trying to run on will greatly affect the engine performance. There may still be a quantity of diesel in the system, take a sample of fuel from the filter and check, you should be able to smell any diesel. The injectors may need to be cleaned, this can be done on car. Check these things first as a re engine is a rather radical move at present.
