While driving, my car started to make a very loud sound. When I pulled off to the side of the road the noise stopped, but when I placed the car into drive there it would not shift into drive. Previously the cars gear shift was difficult to pull into gear Please advise.

I feel that something has failed in the transmission, unfortunately, with modern transmissions there is a lot of specialist equipment required to make a diagnoses of the problem possible, you will have to see a trans specialist and get a test and report done, start here.
