i was trying to find out where to insert grease/oil after draining. i found the drain plug for the front differential.

What model 4x4 do you have, it will be a gear oil. but it's weight will depend on the model. normally a 75 or 80W-90 gear oil for the front diffs. Your owners book will tell you as well.
