1984 Other Toyota Models Toyota Crown

Recently had problem which was corrected by garage,
but was informed that although plugs had been replaced the engine was not firing on all cylinders and probable a problem with the cylinders and would have to remove head to repair do you think there could be some other problem,
Please bear in mind I am residing in Thailand and there may be something lost in translation
