Hi,

I recently purchased a supercharged 1988 Toyota MR2 with nearly 119,000 miles, engine 4 cly. 4AGZE. The headlights go up and down fine but when driving at night the headlights went out during 3 occasions on short 10 minute trips home from work. The headlights stay up but then they both stop lighting for about 20 seconds or so and then come back on. This is obviously electrical but I don't know if it is a ground, a relay, the switch or whatever. Any comments would be appreciated.

Regards,
Bill

Does you MR2 have headlight doors or do the light come up with the doors?

Most common cause of light going out is either the light switch or the relay. The next time it happens feel the switch and see if it is warm/hot. It could also be a ground to the lights.
