Engine Cooling problem
2009 Toyota Matrix 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Should there be metal flakes in my toyotas engine coolant. I checked my coolant today and noticed metal flakes in the fluid and on the cap. I have always owned pre-millennium domestic cars and have always know this to be bad but cars have changed alot in 20 years.

It is probably leftover material from casting process. Metal flakes in coolant is far better that metal particles in oil.

I would flush cooling system.
