1994 2.2 diesel auto toyota lucida estima with erratic revs at 50-70mph. During motorway runs the car will be fine for about 10-15 mins but then the revs begin to jump from 2800 to 3500rpm as if it can't decide to be in overdrive or not. If when doing motorway speeds I lift of the gas and drop from 70 to 60 or turn off the overdrive to a count of 10 this usually clears it. Sometimes if trying to drive through the 'jumping revs' the back end gets very smokey. There are no tell tail warning lights on the dash?????????
