Is the Landcruiser front end set up the same as my 1985 toyota pickup? The entire front end pivots on a couple of large ball joints directly behind the brake assembly. The 85 pickup has a square fitting on the top of the ball joint and you just unscrew it and inject chassis lube-- is the Landcruiser set up the same way or are the ball joints lubricated with gear oil from the differential?

Hi there,

The swivel hubs are part packed with Molly grease there is a seal in the axle tube that prevents diff oil from entering the swivel hub, if oil dose get in the grease will dilute and leak out past the hub seal, this is only a grease seal and it wont hold oil, if you have oil)grease leaking from the swivel hub seal, the inner axle tube seal is leaking and needs replacing, don't think the later cruisers have this square access plug, you will have to look and see, if it dose you can add grease, but if it is leaking, you will need to fix this correctly.
