Engine Performance problem
1988 Toyota Landcruiser 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual

new motor,new diaphram in fuel pump,new hand pump! i have deisel knock and dont know why, the pump is timed 18 deg before TDC..????????????any thoughts ???????//

Hi there,

If you are trying to compare this 2H with modern diesel engines you will never get even a new one to be a quiet, they are noisy at the best of times, as long as the valve clearances are ok, the pump timing and calibration is correct and no one has tampered with the max fuel settings, i think this will be as good as it gets, now saying that, i cant hear it, and i don't know how excessive the knock is, may be you should get a diesel mechanic to give an opinion as well after listening first hand.
