my key goes in the ignition but will not turn; what can be the problem?

Could be the tumbler or the electric part of the switch jamming it.HAs it ever been hard to turn before? Have you tried moving the steering wheel back and forth while turning the key? Sometimes the stering lock can hold too much tension against the key assembly making it hard to turn
