Hi I have a feeling this is a fairly simple problem-My rear brakes squeak when I compress the brake pedal. When I am going fast (above 40) and then brake, this noise turns into a louder repeating rubbing noise.

Is this my rear brake pads? What kind do I need to buy for a 2001 Toyota Echo?

I know how to install the front ones, so is it the same? Thanks so much!

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

You will need to do a visual inspection as i feel that you may have gone metal to metal, (run out of braking material) if this is the case you will need to have the rotors machined and if they are under minimum thickness they will have to be replaced, do this inspection first and advise the condition of the rotors first, if you just replace the pads with damaged rotors you will tear up the new pads very quickly.
