2000 Toyota Echo Clutch problem?

I have difficulty moving the gear shif into first gear from neutral at stops. After depressing clutch and finding that moving the grear shifter into first gear is not possible, I must fully release clutch and depress it again in order to move the gear shift.

Bleed the clutch and adjust for free play and see what happens-
